I will be honest, I have been putting off writing this month’s newsletter because I’m a little at a loss for what to write. To say that November has been a month of bit emotions (great optimism and great disappointment being two of them) would be an understatement.
Ultimately, I decided that there is nothing wrong with a simple newsletter full of news and hopefully welcome updates. There is even a giveaway for The Dressmakers of London.1
I hope you enjoy and, as we come closer to the holiday season, you have some time to pick up a good book and read.
Book News
Evelyne Redfern series
After celebrating the release of Betrayal at Blackthorn Park last month, it was back to work for me on the Evelyne Redfern series! I handed in a developmental edit on the third Evelyne Redfern mystery. That’s right, for all of you who have been asking, there will be a third installment of Evelyne’s cases! The book is expected to be out in autumn of 2025, so keep an eye out here for a cover reveal and other details!
The Dressmakers of London
I am starting to become excited about the release of The Dressmakers of London on February 18th, and part of that is making plans for marketing and publicity!
I have a lot of great things lined up to share with you about writing the book and my love of historical fashion and hand-making clothes.
If you haven’t preordered your copy of The Dressmakers of London yet, there’s still time! This book will be releasing in paperback, ebook, and audiobook at all major retailers.
Do You Have a Book Club?
I often get emails from book clubs asking for information about my books so I thought it was time I had a little chat about book clubs.
First of all, I’m impressed with any book club that lasts more than about three sessions, which is the longest any book club I’ve ever been in has lasted!
Secondly, if your book club is reading one of my books, there are some handy reader’s guides for A Traitor in Whitehall, The Lost English Girl, The Last Garden in England, The Whispers of War, and The Light Over London.
If you want a bit more information about me and my books, there are a few places to start. I have a bio on my website, and I also have an FAQ section where answer some of the most commonly asked questions about my writing.
If you would like to invite me to speak at your upcoming book club, there’s a handy form on my website you can use to get in touch!2

Postscript
What I’ve been reading: Every autumn I have the urge to read long books, and this year is no different. I picked up Middlemarch by George Elliot, a book I read two decades ago for a reread, and I am thoroughly enjoying it despite finding Fred Vincy one of the most stressful characters in classic fiction.
What I’ve been watching: My family is currently two episodes into the new TV version of The Day of the Jackal. Having loved the film, I was skeptical at first, but I’m enjoying what this very slick show is building towards.
What I’ve been knitting: I recently finished my Christmas jumper (the Holly Sweater by Knitting for Olive), and now I’m on to a gift knit! I’m making the Cozy Autumn Socks by This Handmade Life in some gorgeous yarn by Ainsworth & Prin.
What I’ve been cooking: This really should be called “What I’ve been baking” as I’ve been stress baking a lot recently. I made some cheese scones from the National Trust Book of Scones to bring some Englishness to the day of the American election (and because I wanted cheese scones), and a couple days ago I made Cranberry Bread from The Silver Palate Cookbook, which is a favorite and always makes me think of Christmas.
Open to U.S. readers only.
I try to make it to as many virtual book club appearances as I can, but please be aware that I do need to balance them with my writing schedule.
I'm sorry, National Trust Book of Scones?! I love that that's a thing that exists!
Cousin (yes, techniically you are my hubby's cousin but...) I love your writing. I just finished Alone and the ending was too PolllyAnna for me. Since I only read at night, I'm slow on catching up. Your mom loves those mystery and horror stories.... Hope you don't catch her bug! Hugs from sunny warm CA!
