Your First Look at The Dressmakers of London
My next historical novel will be out February 2025!
For months I have been teasing big secrets around my next historical novel, and now I can finally tell you all about it because…we have a book cover!
Meet The Dressmakers of London, a novel about confronting old wounds, new loves, and the weight of family legacy. This is also a story about the incredibly deep bonds of sisterhood1, and I cannot wait to share it with you!
Here’s a little of what you can expect from my dressmakers:
Izzie is a hardworking dressmaker who wonders if she will ever get the chance to prove to her mother that she has what it takes to run the family business.
Sylvia is her estranged sister who walked out of the family’s shop at eighteen to marry a wealthy doctor—only to realize that her husband may not be the man she always thought.
Throw in:
a surprise inheritance
fashion and ingenuity on the (clothes) ration
gossiping socialites
first love
second chances
family legacies
a touch of the epistolary novel
And you have one of my favorite books I’ve ever written!
You can read the full summary of The Dressmakers of London below, but first I need to let you know that the book is now available for preorder ahead of its February 2025 release!
Preorders are super important for authors like me because it lets our publishers know that readers are interested in our books. That counts towards things like marketing and PR budget (super vital these days!) and also helps books like The Dressmakers in London hit bestseller lists!
More preorder links are populating as we speak, but if you can’t find your favorite retailer yet, you can add the book to Goodreads.
If you want to learn more, here is the officially official summary of the book:
The author of the “enthralling” (Woman’s World) The Lost English Girl returns with a heartfelt new novel about estranged sisters who inherit their late mother’s dress shop in World War II London.
Isabelle Shelton has always found comfort in the predictable world of her mother’s dressmaking shop, Mrs. Shelton’s Fashions, while her sister Sylvia turned her back on the family years ago to marry a wealthy doctor whom Izzie detests. When their mother dies unexpectedly, the sisters are stunned to find they’ve jointly inherited the family business. Izzie is determined to buy Sylvia out, but when she’s conscripted into the WAAF, she’s forced to seek Sylvia’s help to keep the shop open. Realizing this could be her one chance at reconciliation with her sister, Sylvia is determined to save Mrs. Shelton’s Fashions from closure—and financial ruin.
Through letters, the sisters begin to confront old wounds, new loves, and the weight of family legacy in order to forge new beginnings in this lyrically moving novel perfect for fans of Genevieve Graham and Lucinda Riley.
Make sure you don’t miss out by preordering your copy of The Dressmakers of London wherever books are sold!
This is probably where I remind my sister Justine that I love her very much and this book is not about you Justine! *Hug*
It’s so pretty! Love that the window shows both a peek into the shop and London’s reflection 🙌🏻 I can’t wait to add it to the Historical Fiction ‘grab & go’ bags we make for readers at the library 💕
This sounds so amazing. I can't wait to hear more!
